STRATFORD, CONN John Oliver "Sean" McKay, 76, of Stratford, former longtime resident of Westport, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 with his family by his side. Sean was the loving and devoted husband of Barbara Ann DeMattio McKay for 54 years. Sean was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on July 13, 1946 to the late John Joseph and Ellen Smee McKay. Sean and his family came to the United States when he was 2.5 years old and proudly became a US citizen at the age of 12. He was a proud US Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam. Sean was a production manager with Comatel USA for many years prior to their relocation. He then worked for the Wilton Board of Education. During his retirement, he took up golf, winemaking, and boating with his family. His greatest joy was being with his family and close friends. In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his son, Michael John McKay and his wife Sharon; his grandsons: Colin Sean McKay and Dillon Michael, McKay all of Stratford. He was the brother of Anthony McKay of Cape Coral, FL. He is also survived by many cousins and friends, especially his winemaking and golf buddies. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Diarmuid McKay. Friends and Family may visit on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 4-7PM at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield. A Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be held on Friday, July 22 at 11 AM at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main St., Westport, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
