When a loved one passes away, the funeral service and a memorial monument are the major aspects that need immediate attention. These need to be planned with respect, love as well as keeping in mind the wishes of the deceased.

While the funeral services get over once the deceased is buried, the memorial monument is visible and lasts for a long time. Here are a few aspects to consider when you are choosing a memorial monument for your loved one.

1. Think Of A Creative Design

A memorial monument can be simple and yet creative in its design. When you choose a design that reflects the personality and thinking of the deceased, you are paying tribute to the person you love.

2. Choice Of Material

The material used for the monument needs to be resilient to stand the vagaries of nature. A monument designed from granite has this required attribute, lasts for a long time and is able to weather the elements without becoming deteriorated.

There are different types of funeral monuments available such as:

  • Ground level marker
  • Tilted or slanted marker

  • Beveled marker

Message For The Headstone

Some people like to engrave just the name, and the date of birth and death. Others like to engrave a message to add a personal touch to it. Sometimes, the deceased leave a message to add to their grave-stone and that would be engraved on it.

A monument is expensive and long-lasting. It needs to be chosen carefully and can be customized with artwork and lettering to reflect the personal style of the deceased.
