When a loved one dies, most people feel that they can cope with the sorrow in a much better way when they dedicate a memorial to that person. There are many conventional commemorations, such as urns, plaques, and headstones, etc.

Now, many families are looking for unique and modern ways to memorialize their loved one. This becomes a very personal way of creating a unique memory of your loved one, which goes a long way in speeding up the healing process for you. Here we take a look at some of the modern ways to memorialize a loved one:

  • You can consider installing a memorial bench or any other type of garden furniture. You can get permission from local authorities to install a bench in a local park. Alternatively, you have the option to place a memorial bench in your yard. Get it designed as per your requirements and create a small calm space on your property.

  • A living memorial is another modern way of memorializing a loved one. You can plant a garden, shrub, or even a flowering tree in the memory of your loved one. Funeral flowers are very common. However, they can be very somber. A memorial garden is different because it offers continual growth and renewal.

  • Create a memory box, memory album, or even a scrapbook with photographs and snapshots of your loved one. This can be a positive activity and a great way to find some solace when you are grieving.

  • You also have the option to create memorial jewelry. The ashes of your loved one can also be skillfully inserted into pendants, lockets, cufflinks or rings, etc. It is a very personal way of keeping the memory of your loved one alive. You can also purchase jewelry and inscribe your loved one's name and other essential details like life-dates and more.
