When I Bury Or Entomb Cremated Remains, Can I Keep A Separate Small Amount?

Losing someone close to you can be a challenging and stressful time. While the family members have to deal with their grief, they also have to plan and organize the funeral or memorial service (in cremation). At Willowbrook Cemetery, we understand how difficult this time can be for our clients. It’s why we offer the best cremation services.

Can You Keep Separate Amounts Of The Ashes After Cremation?

Once the person’s mortal remains are cremated, the family will get the ashes, and most people store these in urns or disperse them in the ocean or some other place. However, there are times when multiple family members (children/siblings/spouses of the decedent) want to keep a small portion of the ashes in their home as homage to their loved ones.

So is it possible to do this? The answer is yes. Many families are now opting for cremation as it is an eco-friendly, cost-effective disposition method. Many families also choose to divide the ashes into multiple memorials, enabling them to keep the urn in their home with their loved one's ashes.

Some people may place the urn on the mantle, while others may bury it in their backyard. Some people prefer to incorporate the ashes in cremation jewelry as well. Dividing the ashes enables all the family members to memorialize the departed soul in a way they see fit, which is becoming common practice now.

Therefore, even if you plan to entomb or bury cremated remains, you and your family members can keep a separate small amount. You will have to discuss this requirement with the cremation service provider in advance. If you have any questions about our beautiful cemetery or want to purchase a plot, contact Willowbrook Cemetery.
