Obituary of Maria Rose Giunta

WESTPORT, CONN

Maria R. Giunta, age 95 of Westport died on Monday, May 28, 2018 in her home with her loving family by her side. 

She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony P. Giunta, Sr. Mrs. Giunta was born in Windber, PA on February 24, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Pasquale Roig and Dolores Miralles Roig.

She worked for the Westport Bank and Trust for a number of years and was active in the community. She was a longtime parishioner of the Church of the Assumption, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a dedicated volunteer for the American Red Cross and the Westport Sons of Italy.

Maria will be lovingly remembered by her children, Anthony Giunta, Jr. (Frances), of Westport and Carol Axley (Michael) of San Bruno, CA, her cherished grand children, Kirsten Giunta (Devon) and David Giunta and baby great grand daughter Maria. She also leaves behind a sister, Elizabeth Furlong and a brother Patsy Roig (Kathy) and many other nieces, nephews and family members.Besides her parents and husband Anthony, she was predeceased by her sisters Pearl Tolentino and Rose O'Brien and her brother Joe Gill.

Calling hours for friends and family will be at the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Rd. East, Westport, on Wednesday, June 6th, between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be on Thursday, June 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption, 98 Riverside Ave.

Interment will follow at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main St.
