Obituary of Roger Browne Clark

Clark was born Feb. 15, 1933, in Boston, son of Helen (Browne) and Earl Clark. Following high school at St. Louis Country Day, he moved east, graduating from Amherst College in Mass. While at Amherst, he was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. After graduation, he joined the Air Force. After his marriage he settled with his family in Cincinnati as he began his marketing career at Procter & Gamble, as a “soap guy.” After 10 years, he and his family moved to Westport, where he joined former P&G colleagues at a startup marketing consulting company, Glendinning.
Later in his career, Roger took over the lottery unit of his company and formed Glenconn, creating national and international lotteries and promotions. After living for 25 years in Connecticut, he and Barbara relocated to Hilton Head in 1996, where they became active in the community through the First Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head, Deep Well and the Country Club of Hilton Head.
Clark is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children, Steve, Scott, and Cynthia; two daughters-in-law, Eileen and Sarah; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Gregory Browne Clark.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Hilton Head on Friday Aug. 16 at 2 p.m, followed by a reception.
Burial was held on Monday, October 18, 2021 in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport, Conn.
